In Blair County, Elias Baker, Esq., is constructing a railroad from his famous Allegheny Furnace Ore Bake to intersect the Pennsylvania Railroad at Blair Furnace.
A car man named J. P. Onslow was run over by a train on the Portage Railroad at Nov. 4 of Monday, crushing his arm from wrist to elbow.
Joseph Williams of Hollidaysburg was hauling iron ore to Watson, White and Co.'s furnace and had a foot run over by a loaded wagon Monday a week, which required amputation.
On Sunday, June 28, 1857, while J. T. Mathias of Tyrone Forge was attending the funeral of his father, his small daughter was accidentally burned when her brother lit a match which ignited her clothing, causing her death a short time later.
