page two - In the Matter of the estate of Jacob Miller, deceased. At an Orphans'Court held at Clearfield, for the county of Clearfield, on the 11th day of June, A.D. 1870, the petition of J. Blake Walters, Esq. was presented, setting forth that he was a party in interest in the Real Estate of said Jacob Miller, deceased ... a citation to issue to the heirs...all parties in interest to appear in court on the first day of September Term, 1870.../ Administrator's Notice - Estate of John Luzier, Sr., late of Bradford township / Caution - The public is hereby cautioned against harboring or trusting my daughter, Elizabeth Ann, who has left home without any cause, or employing her without my consent, as I will pay no debts of her contracting. W. Z. Milligan, Lawrence township, August 31 / Register's Notice - Notice is hereby given that the following accounts have been examined and passed by me ...and will be presented in the next Orphans Court of Clearfield county, to be held...commencing on the fourth Monday (being the 26th day) of September, A.D. 1870. - Partial and distribution account of J.A.L. Flegan, adminstrator of Jacob Flegal, late of Goshen township, deceased - Final Account of Joseph and Elisha Davis, administrators of Joseph Davis, Sr., late of Penn township deceased. - Final account of James Somerville, administrator of David Somerville, late of Chest township, deceased. - Final account of I. C. McCloskey, administrator of Isaac Price, late of Karthaus township, dec'd. - Partial account of G. W. McCully, adminstrator of estate of John L. M'Cully, late of Gulich township, deceased. - Final account of Mary Mullen, executrix of estate of Thomas Mullen, late of Beccaria township, deceased. - Final account of William K. page three - Died - David McDowell, and active and enterprising citizen of Graham tp., who had the misfortune of receiving serious injury several months ago by his team running off, died on the 27th, from the effects of the injury received at that time. He leaves a large circle of relatives to mourn his demise. / Dead - We are compelled to chronicle this week, the death of Hon. Peter Lamm, who formerly resided at Deer Creek in this county. The judge was well known to many of our citizens, having acted in the capacity of Associate Judge in 1850-1. He removed to Beverly, New Jersey, in 1867, but lately resided at Newton Hamilton, where his death occurred. / Suicide - We learn that Jacob Zimmer, a citizen of Brady township, committed suicide on Sunday last, by hanging himself in his barn. He left the house about 8 o'clock in the morning, and a nine a member of the family went to the bard and found him suspended from a joist. No cause is assigned for the rash act. He leaves a wife and several children. / "Distressing Accident - On Thursday evening last, four students at Ligonier college went out to swim in Mill Creek, One of them John Cunningham, slid off a rock into the water, and not knowing how to swim, soon became to struggle and give evidence of drowning. James Johnston, one of his companions, went to his relief when Cunningham grappled him and then both went down together. After considerable trouble Cunningham's body was brought up; Johnston's being recovered soon afterwardm efforts were at once made to recusitate them, and after a while Cunningham's body gave evidence of returning life, and in twelve hours he was almost entirely recovered. All endeavors to revive Johnston proved futile. He was twenty year of age and a highly repected and promising young man. The calimity is indeed a distressing one." - "Greensburg Democrat." / Child Drowned - A little boy aged two years, son of John Lee, was drowned in the factory race at Milroy, on Thursday last. He was seen playing along the bank, and half an hour afterward was found by his mother, floating in the race, dead. All efforts at resuscitation were unavailing. - "Lewistown Democrat" / Died - Near Newton Hamilton, Mifflin county, Pa., on August 2oth, 1870, Hon. Peter Lamm, in the 67th year of his age. - In Lawrence township on August 23d, 1870, of dropsy, Mary Ann Ragara, in the 56th year of her age. - In Brady township, on the 23d of August, 1870, Elizabeth, daughter of Reuben H. and Mary Kirk, aged 17 years, 5 months and 29 days. - In Brady township, on Friday, August 26th, 1870, Frank, son of W. C. and E. Parker, aged three years. - In Lawrence township, on August 13th, 1870, of consumption, Margaret Mullen, aged 26 years and 6 months. - At Grahamton, August 5th, 1870, Margaret Forcey, widoe of the late Matthew A. Forcey, of Bradford township, aged 59 years, 10 months and 15 days. The deceased came to this county with her parents, John and Mary Murray, when very young, and with them endured many of the privations and hardships incident to the early settlers. For about forty years she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and though in her later years she bore a large share of afflictions and sorrows of life, yet she constantly maintained her christian character, and during a long and severe illness continued to express and unwavering trust in her Redeemer.
